Made some changes to my website a couple of weeks ago - it hasn’t been that long since I reworked it previously - but there were plenty of reasons to make the changes to the header and footer.
The circular links in the header were hand-coded and the css to create the circles meant it was a bit of a nightmare to add any new links, I wanted to add a link to my T-Shirt store and my Print gallery on Society6 to help get a little more traffic over to them. I also wanted the header design to reflect on the type of work I want to create in the future, so I created a ripped paper banner in Photoshop. The future for me is more art, design and including illustration in my work.
The footer needed a massive change, I previously had the links to recent blog posts and blog categories, but since moving my blog to Tumblr - they’ve disappeared, so it was looking a little empty. I decided to move the ‘About me’ text that was previously at the top of the home page and include links to social networks I’m available on that were previously part of the header and contact page (they’re still on my contact page, just a little more subtle now).
I’m going to create a new illustration for the footer in the near future, I’ve got a couple of ideas, I want it to reflect my personality and what I am all about, rather than the ‘just a nice silhouette’ that I’ve had up for the last few years.
